They have several different boxes to choose from but the 8 single servings shown here would be about $11.99/order.  Not bad considering you get to pick and choose what types of snacks you get.  They are also all perfectly portioned to be around 100-150 calories- yeah healthy eating!

Thanks Graze for the fun treat in the mail!  PS. it looks like the pricing is including shipping on all boxes. for more info.

Our Vegan Cuts Snack Box Finally Arrived and We’re So Happy!

by jem614

We just got the box for our Vegan Cuts Snacks, yeah! ¬†Their snack box (starting at only $19.95/month if paid on a monthly basis), included about 11 snacks that ranged from a couple of “electrolyte” pouches to a big bag of chai flavored popcorn (this flavor is new to me and probably my favorite snack out of the whole box). ¬†Their snack boxes usually range from 7-10 snacks and you have other options for payment besides the monthly option.

How great is it to have new vegan snacks introduced to you EVERY SINGLE MONTH! ¬†Expand your horizons, find more things out there that you can munch on when the craving hits. ¬†We even got some Earth Balance Mac & Cheese and a very interesting “instant shiitake” pouch that only Ashley is brazen enough to try.

I actually kind of liked the BARNANA snack, made of just bananas and coconut but the kiddo was not having any of it- I think the smell of banana +brown turned him off but …. he’s 2 and hates everything that is healthy right now so I take it in stride. ¬†More snacks for myself, I say.

Overall, I was pretty impressed with this box at less than $20.  Most of the boxes you get these days are at least $25.  Also, for those of you in remote areas and have a hard time finding vegan snacks- I highly recommend getting a box!

Nouri (as in “Nourish”) Gets It Right With Simple Nutrition Bars

by jem614

I received a cute little box of Nouri Bars in the mail a couple of days ago. ¬†I have to say that I honestly had no idea who they were before they contacted us and I thought it was just another “vegan” bar out on the market.

Then, I opened their little box of goodies and read right on the package that every bar you buy provides a meal for a child in need. ¬†Stop everything, we have found the Tom’s Shoe company of food people! ¬†They won me over even before I ripped off the package. ¬†I have to say that the bars are not the prettiest but they are nutritious, delicious and come in three¬†great flavors that really it makes no difference. ¬†My son, who is picky eater of picky eaters, kept asking me for “more” when I broke off a few pieces of their chocolate cashew¬†bar.

What’s another great feature of these bars? ¬†They are usually around 150 calories- that’s almost unheard of in a nutrition bar. ¬†Seriously? ¬†150 calories? ¬†That’s like a cup of tall chai latte at Starbucks. ¬†Also, each bar packs in about 6 grams of protein and has some pretty fabulous organic ingredients as well (forget sugar or corn syrup, these babies have dates, hemp, vanilla, etc).

And when they asked us to try their bars, they focused on their mission to end child hunger, not on getting more sales. ¬†We think we’re in <3!

Thank you Nouri Bar for introducing us to a new brand –¬†you now have yet another loyal fan.

Banana Bites- Scrumptious!

by jem614

By Jessica Michael

Another quick post.  I have been craving chocolate like there is no tomorrow and have been trying to find a healthier way to satisfy my sweet tooth.  I saw a recipe for chocolate covered bananas the other day and realized that by adding peanut butter and nuts, it could be a healthy bite as well as a protein-rich one.

They are simple and fabulous, here is how I made them:

2 Bananas cut up to 1 inch chunks (depending on how many you want)
1/2 Bag of Semi-sweet vegan morsels
1 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp Almond Milk (this is optional but helped to thin my chocolate)
Almond butter (a 1/2 teaspoon per banana bite should do it
Crushed pecans

Heat up your chocolate either in a double boiler or on the stove with the butter and almond milk to thin it. ¬†Place your bananas on a tray and add the peanut butter or almond butter on top. ¬†When your chocolate is done, pour over each piece evenly and add your pecans while it’s still all melty.

Put in freezer for a couple of hours and enjoy- totally melt in your mouth fun! ¬†And you don’t have to feel totally guilty feeding them to your kids either!
